Those were the days. back when I was a student, (trying hard to be a student leader), the battle cry was No to Tuition Fee Increase (TFI) and for the students to collect and manage their own Supreme Student Government (SSG) Fee. The MSU president then was Dr. Ahmad Domocao E. Alonto. We were successful in our advocacy but it had its own repercussions. Any system can be made infallible; it is in the implementation (and who implement it) that makes a world of difference.

This is sharing of personal narrative, never designed to be in scholarly fashion, but primarily written as a tribute, a salute to all the good women and men who, in one way or another, gave a part of themselves, in time of need for others. This is in celebration of the natural goodness of the human spirit (regardless of religion and ethnicity) as well as humbly, a gentle reminder of our humanity.
