Update on the Physical Profile

The University has vigorously been sprucing up on its physical landscape to bring more utility to its clientele. A brief rundown of the infrastructure projects in addition to the already existing physical facilities undertaken within the last twelve years is as follows:

  1. Construction of the Administration Building of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which also houses the CNSM Library.
  2. Construction of the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino Building/MSU Panrehiyong Sentro ng Wikang Filipino Region XII, a project of the late Senator Blas F. Ople.
  3. Putting up of the Infotech Laboratory and Research and Extension Services office in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.
  4. The De Venecia Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding located near the Main Library where the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao holds its office. The Center has an elegant architectural design and extends as a four-room hostel for researchers and foreign guests paying short visits in the campus;
  5. The ACEF-Funded Mamitua-Saber Research and Technology Center, a two-storey concrete building constructed beside the Antonio Isidro Building, which serves as haven both for the scholars and agricultural researchers working on the corn production endeavor and other technological pursuits of the MSU-ACEF Project;
  6. The Peace Plaza located in front of the Dimaporo Gymnasium;
  7. The new University Hostel, which can accommodate 52 persons and offers two types of accommodation: the dorm-type pegged at 150 pesos per guest per day and the sultan-type for 250 pesos per guest per day;
  8. The Indonesian Cultural Training and Dawa’h Center, a single-storey concrete building with a basement and a floor are of 384 square meters;
  9. The Center for Malay Studies, a single-storey concrete building with a basement and a floor area of 404 square meters;
  10. Ten (10) classroom buildings of the College of Business Administration;
  11. The new College of Agriculture Administration Building a two-storey concrete building which also houses laboratory rooms for its students;
  12. The Social Hall, a rehabilitated pre-fabricated mini-gym that provides a good venue for many occasions and student activities; the graduation ceremonies in the early 1964 to 1981 were conducted here;
  13. The Sultan’s Theater, the University’s open-air venue for performances and cultural presentations which is now rehabilitated;
  14. The Botanical Garden, a showcase of different collection of ornamental plants and herbs such as bumillads, anthuriums, noni plants and chestnut trees.
  15. Construction of the D.K. Villaluz Hall, a two-storey concrete building, with basement and an area of more than 300 square meters, which houses the administration office of the College of Fisheries, two laboratory rooms, two classrooms, audio-visual room and social room.
  16. Conversion of the CSSH Canteen into Language Center adjacent to the Engler.
  17. Construction of a two-room Statistics Center of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
  18. Construction of the annexes rooms in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Public Affairs, Business Administration, Engineering, Forestry and Environmental Studies, Health Sciences and Pre-University Center.

The following infrastructures and physical facilities of the University are being repaired, developed or improved:

  • The girl’s and boy’s dormitories;
  • The annex classroom buildings of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities;
  • The Girl’s Dormitory constructed in front of the Rajah Dumdumah and Rajah Solaiman Hall boy’s dorm;
  • The Antonio Isidro Building;
  • The Dimaporo Gymnasium;
  • The classroom buildings of the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management;
  • The Center Island;
  • The Golf Course
