Tago, CPA, as the 9th President of the Mindanao State University System, formally conducted on August 13, 2025, constituted a noteworthy event, subsequent to his appointment on June 27, 2025. The ceremony, convened at the Dimaporo Gymnasium, transcended a mere formality. Born on October 25, 1967, he is a proud son of Mindanao and blue-blooded native of Islamic City of Marawi and a lifelong advocate of inclusive development, social justice, and education as a tool for empowerment.
He was a student of Master of Laws from San Beda College, a Bachelor of Laws from Far Eastern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the National College of Business and Arts. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Philippine Bar.
With over three decades of leadership experience, he has served in various capacities across regional and national government. He was a sitting Member of Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (2019 to 2025), and formerly served as Deputy Speaker (2022 to 2025). Also as Minister of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (2022 to 2025) in the Bangsamoro Government, he led institutional reforms and infrastructure initiatives to improve connectivity and mobility across the region.
Atty. Tago’s blend of legal, financial, and legislative expertise, coupled with his commitment to education and community welfare, positions him as an ideal leader to advance to the MSU System’s mission of academic excellence and regional development.
A momentous occasion unfolded at Mindanao State University (MSU) on July 4th, 2025. The International Convention Center hosted the turnover ceremony for Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, as the 9th regular MSU System president. The ceremony was more than a simple transfer of power; it marked a pivotal turning point for MSU, a new chapter embraced with optimism and high expectations by the entire university community.
July 2, 2025, Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, was sworn in as president of the Mindanao State University (MSU) System, taking his oath before Hon. Lucas Bersamin, Executive Secretary of the Philippines, following an oath-taking with Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, CHED Chairperson, on July 1.

June 27, 2025 — The Office of the President, Malacañang, has officially appointed MP Atty. Paisalin Pangandaman Tago as the new President of Mindanao State University, replacing late Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno. The appointment, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, is for a term of six years.
