Prof. Sorhaila L. Latip-Yusoph, PhD is a multi-media practitioner and educator from the Departments of Communication and Media Studies, English and the Graduate Studies of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.
As a media practitioner, she is a columnist, podcast producer and radio anchor in different media platforms. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Doctorate in Language Studies from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Mindanao State University-Marawi. She also completed her Master of Science in Development Communication (Journalism and Broadcasting) at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños; and a Master of Arts in Language and Communication Research at the University of Cardiff in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. She was also trained under the United States-IVLP Certificate Program on Education in the Digital Age. Her recent professional training includes the Summer Linguistics Program at the University of the Philippines, Strategic Communications for Public Sector Leaders at the Ateneo School of Government, and the Inclusive Governance and Sustaining Peace Programme in Mindanao by the Hague Academy (NUFFIC).
Sorhaila is a community activist, AI enthusiast, and a 2018 Outstanding Alumna of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. As a multi-talented poet, writer, and broadcaster, she leverages her communication skills to drive peace, development, and information dissemination in her community. She champions family communication and women’s empowerment through initiatives like the Bilantadi a Bai – Women Empowerment Program and the Kumusta Ka Kalumbayan Listening Post Collective. Currently, she advocates for media and digital literacy among Muslim religious leaders in Lanao to counter disinformation and information manipulation.
