About The Department

The Department of Secondary Teaching offers a Bachelor of Secondary Education. It is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major at the secondary level. The BSEd curriculum majors in English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies provide secondary teaching experiences through apprenticeship and practicum and training for competent technology integration in the classroom. 

This program was created under BOR No. 357, S. 2017 of the University. The program is in accordance with the Guidelines for the Implementation of Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 75 series of 2017

BSEd English offers a curriculum with a total of 164 units. Break down as follows: 36 units of General Education, 30 units of professional education courses, 63 units of specialization or major courses, and 6 units of electives. 

BSEd Social Studies

The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Social Studies is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant learning competencies to teach Social Studies in the secondary level.

BSEd FIlipino

BSEd Filipino offers a curriculum with a total of 164 units. Break down as follows: 36 units of General Education, 30 units of professional education courses, 63 units of specialization or major courses, and 6 units of electives.

BSEd Mathematics

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics is a four-year degree program that prepares Teacher Education students in teaching the different branches of Mathematics such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics to Secondary school students.

BSEd Sciences

BSEd Sciences offers a curriculum with a total of 164 units. Break down as follows: 36 units of General Education, 45 units of professional education courses, 73 units of specialization or major courses, and 6 units of electives.

The Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) is only a few hours away! As takers from all over the country do their last-minute preparations and as they enter the exam venues, let us take a moment to offer prayers and send well wishes to them as they brave yet another milestone in their professional journey.
Manifesting victory to all our takers! In the words of Stephen Covey “begin with the end in mind,” may you trudge on the hurdles and scream deafening glory in the licensure exams. You got this, future LPTs!

A Quick Reminisce!

The first three colleges of the University were first formally organized in the academic year 1962-1963; As the Univesity progresses, the College of Liberal Arts was split into two colleges namely: the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities; College of Community Development and Public Administration now the College of Public Affairs and the College of Education.

College of Education Snatch 7th Rank, LET June 2022

Ms. Fatma S. Hadji Ahmad, a BSEd- English, ranked 7th place in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) taken last June 2022. For two consecutive board examinations, the College has retained its name in the roster of top notchers. All were taken during the pandemic which makes this triumph more noble and extraordinary for this is a living testimony of an MSUan’s resiliency and tenacity despite all odds.
