Harvey M. Niere is currently an Associate Program Officer for Peace Research at Institute on Peace and Development in Mindanao of Mindanao State University in Marawi City and Associate Professor at the Department of Economics of the same university he has been serving since 2003. Prior to his current position, he held the roles of Assistant Program Director and Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Mindanao. With a strong academic background, he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, while holding a candidacy to the Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of the Philippines Diliman and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Economics from MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, where he graduated cum laude. Throughout his career, he has actively engaged in research in the fields of economics and development studies, with a particular focus on economic valuation, impact evaluation, and market efficiency. He has conducted thorough studies and analysis to gain insights into the economic value of various factors, evaluate the effectiveness of development programs, and examine the efficiency of market dynamics. In addition to his academic research, he has made significant contributions to the wider scholarly community. He has actively participated in conferences, both nationally and internationally, where he has presented his research papers to fellow scholars, researchers, and professionals. He occasionally provides technical assistance to BARMM’s several ministries. His current research interest is on impact evaluation of socioeconomic programs in conflict affected areas.
