The Department of Sociology and Anthropology was initially opened during the early 1960s as one of the departments under the then College of Liberal Arts, as pioneering base college of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City. Through the efforts if Dr. Mamitua Saber, it offered the AB Sociology program. It mid-1990s, the Department of Anthropology was administratively merged with it in view of the governmentโs campaign for national austerity. The Departmentโs current academic program is a response to the educational, socio-cultural, economic and political challenges of a changing society within a globalizing world.
