The Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus, in partnership with key national organizations including Alagang Angara of DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara, Pinay in Action advocated by Senator Pia S. Cayetano, and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) headed by John Patrick C. Gregorio, successfully launched KASUGAY 3.0 yesterday, December 10, 2025. The exhilarating opening ceremony, focused on unity, fitness, and fair play, began with high-energy activities like a Zumba session and a Fun Run.Key parts of the opening program included a captivating Opening Salvo performance from MSU Dakila and Bangkaw Creatives and inspiring messages, officially igniting the spirit of the games.​

In his opening remarks, MSU System President Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, represented by Executive Vice President Dr. Abdulcader Ayo, highlighted the deeper meaning of the event: “Today is a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the strong spirit that defines the Mindanao State University community. Kasugay is not only about competition, it is about building friendships, strengthening discipline, and promoting fair and honest play.” He also extended gratitude to the essential partners who made the event possible.

Emphasizing the commitment to athletic development, DepEd Political Officer Niño “Jasper” Nuñez, representing Secretary Angara, committed to holding the Kasugay games again next year, noting their office has been actively advocating for sportsfests since 2017.​

The ceremony concluded with two significant symbolic acts: the Lighting of the Urn and the Oath of Sportsmanship, which officially declared the games open. The competitive and spirited competition of the KASUGAY 3.0 games continue today, promising more memorable moments for participating athletes and the MSU community.
