ANNUAL EVENTS

Department Orientation

The student orientation is an annual activity organized by the department’s student officers (JEC) where all Management majors are required to attend. The orientation is intended to inform students about their rights and responsibilities in the department as well as the important requirements that they need to comply. The introduction of the members of the faculty as well as the induction of the new set of officers for the academic year will also be held therein.

 

Freshmen Day

The freshmen day is an annual event by which organized by the Junior Executive Club (JEC) Officers. The freshmen of the management department are hereby required to attend the said event as it will serve as an opportunity for them to socialize with each other and make friends. It is an event that is solely prepared for freshmen to be formally welcomed in the department. Fun and exciting activities are also conducted, and students are expected to enjoy the day.

OJT/Practicum Orientation

The OJT/Practicum orientation is an event intended to orient and prepare the 4th year students of the management department for their final requirement in the BSBA-Human Resource Management course. which is the OJT or Practicum. The said event also allows the faculty of management department to give students a wish of good luck and heartfelt messages. The first BSBA HRM OJT Orientation was held on February 02, 2022, at Hilltop, Marawi City and was successfully conducted.

Acquaintance Party

The acquaintance party is an annual event that is organized by the Junior Executive Club (JEC) which is intended to encourage the students of Management Department to socialize, have fun, and create a bond and solidarity between the students of different year levels in the department.

Ramadhan Mubarak: Seminar-Iftar

In line with the celebration of the holy month of Ramadhan, the Seminar-iftar is held to educate Muslims especially the youth about the right practices and the true essence of fasting where non-Muslims may also participate. Participants will eat together on the maghrib. The first Seminar-Iftar was held on July 27, 2013 and was organized by the Junior Executive Club Officers Batch 2013-2014 headed by JEC President Ms. Nourwidah Mamad.

Sensitivity Training and Group

Dynamics The sensitivity training and group dynamics is a final activity for the course Management 102 (Human Behavior in an Organization). It was initiated by Dr. Sonayah D. Guimba-Basher on the 1″ semester of the academic year 2010-2011. This is to promote good relationship and unity among the students by initiating activities on self-discovery and also on discovering other people’s personalities and potentials. The sensitivity training and group dynamics is designed to imbibe to the students the importance of understanding individual differences and enriching commonalities so that there may be harmony in the organization where they interact.

Junior Leadership Volunteering Program (JLVP) on Good Governance and Social Responsibility

In application of the lessons in the courses Management 107 & 109, with the course descriptions Executive Leadership Management and Good Governance and Social Responsibility: issues and concern, respectively, volunteerism projects of whatever from may be implemented by students in the campus, in Marawi City or any area of their choice where they see a need for an initiative. They may partner with wiling agencies and individuals who may support their endeavor financially or technically. JLVP provides a training ground for responsible and proactive youth in our society, and it hopes to develop socially responsible individuals and good leaders in the future.

Research Forum & SPSS Training

The research forum is an annual event conducted for the students of Management 198, which is the Business Research. This forum is intended for the students to learn how to gather data and interpret them to be used for the thesis writing. The forum also teaches the students on how to use the SPSS, which is a statistical tool used to interpret the gathered data.

Event Management

The Local Seminars and Young Executives Business Management Convention (YEBMC) is a traditional requirement that is organized by the students enrolled in the course MGT 196 (Event Management). In Local Seminars, students are given the avenue to practice event organizing through the conduction of a local seminar. Each section will conduct individual local seminars where five students as the speakers of the event. As for the YEBMC, it is considered as a Mindanao-wide convention as it is usually attended by the students from MSU-Main, some private school in Marawi City, and other MSU campuses. The first YEBMC was conducted on March 5, 2011, at the Institute of Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) Convergence Hall.

Administrative Office and Management Exhibit

As a final requirement for the course HRM 101 (Administrative Office and Management) under Prof. Mariz Jor M. Paler, the students are hereby required to construct their own company. They will then create their company’s Manual, as well as build a miniature or make an AutoCAD of their company that they will be presenting on the said exhibit. A panel of judges are also invited to decide which group/section has the most promising output and will receive an award. The audience will also have the chance to cast their vote on which output they think deserve to receive the highest award.

Tribute to Seniors

As the graduation day is fast approaching, graduating and senior students are given a tribute party sponsored and organized by the juniors. The tribute is to recognize and commend the effort and perseverance of the graduating students in their academic as well as their contribution to the department. The tribute also includes the bequeathal of the key of responsibility and the horseshoe good luck, and the batch prophecy. The Tribute to Seniors will be the last party that will be shared by the graduating/senior students with their juniors and their professors.

Tribute to Parents and Department Awarding Ceremony

Big part of the student’s milestone i.e. graduation is attributed to the support of the family whether in financial, emotional and moral aspect, that is why it has been a practice of the Management department to expend solemn program wherein graduating students could extend gratitude and pay tribute to their parents and share with them that they have achieved. It is during this program that the Department Awarding is also performed so that the parents could witness the fruit of their perseverance in supporting their children.

JEC Days (Department Foundation Celebration)

Counting the years of the Management Department since its Inception in the year 1985 and the creation of the Junior Executive Club on August 6, 1986, the department week celebration has always meant fun and enjoyable celebration for the students and faculty of the Department. The celebration is always loaded with enjoyable and enriching activities, sports, team building games. literary and musical competitions and the most exciting JEC night (Ball). The Department Foundation Week celebration is usually observed every 1 week of the month of August.

CBAA Foundation Day

The College of Business Administration and Accountancy celebrates its founding anniversary in the last week of the month of February where four of its departments, the Accountancy, Economic, Marketing and the Management Department come together to be one in the celebration. Inter- department competitions are held such as literary and musical competition. Literary competition includes oratorical speech competition, declamation, extemporaneous speaking, debating, and case analysis. Included as highlights of the celebration are the Padian sa CBAA and the Young Executives Business Management Convention (YEBMC).

University Foundation Day

The first day of September is the biggest day for the Mindanao State University as it celebrates the day of its official birth, its foundation day celebration. All students are encouraged to join different events such as the intramural games, literary and musical competitions and dance extravaganza. The intramurals showcase the different interests of the students such as sports, singing, dancing, writing and public speaking. Other fun activities are also held such as Padian sa MSU, Open House, concerts and many others.

*Annual Events are deemed compulsory for the students of the Management Department to attend to. Failure to attend will be subjected to pay fines prescribed by the Junior Executive Club and clearance won’t be signed.
