Mindanao State University-Main Campus held its first-ever Grand Iftar Program on March 12, 2026, just before the scheduled Energy Saving Break. In a historic first for the university, MSU personnel from all units convened at the grounds of Antonio Isidro Hall to break their fast as a single community.

โ€‹The event was led by MSU System President Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, who took the opportunity to mingle with the MSU community. This emphasized the inclusive nature of the program, as he interacted directly with faculty and staff throughout the evening, reinforcing a sense of approachable leadership within the institution.

โ€‹The program was characterized by a communal “potluck” arrangement, with each university office preparing and sharing a variety of dishes, fruits, and refreshments. This setup provided a rare opportunity for employees from different colleges and administrative units to meet, talk, and interact in an informal setting. Beyond the meal itself, the event served as a venue for personnel to strengthen their bonds, allowing colleagues who rarely see one another to engage and share in the spirit of the season.

โ€‹As the sun set, the personnel performed Maghrib prayer in congregation. This joint prayer was a central part of the program, highlighting the spiritual significance of the month of Ramadhan and the collective unity of the university workforce.

โ€‹To add to the occasion, a raffle draw was conducted during the event. Various prizes were distributed to lucky winners among the attendees, offering a moment of lighthearted engagement and appreciation for the universityโ€™s employees before the start of the break.

โ€‹The impact of the gathering was felt deeply by the staff in attendance. Ms. Mailon D. Pundamudag, a staff member from the Office of Information and Press and Publication (OIPP), expressed her sincere gratitude for the initiative. She noted that while she has been with the university for almost 10 years, this was her first time experiencing a grand iftar of this scale at MSU.

โ€‹”Maganda din ito kasi pinagkakaisa at pinagtitibay nito ang samahan ng mga empleyado,” she shared, highlighting how the program serves to unify and strengthen the relationship among colleagues.

โ€‹By organizing this inaugural event, MSU-Main Campus highlighted the importance of cooperation and solidarity. This gathering successfully brought together a diverse workforce, establishing a new precedent for collective spiritual and social observance within the institution. โ€‹The success of this first Grand Iftar underscores the university’s effort to foster stronger ties among its personnel through shared traditions and mutual support.
