“Music in particular ay isang paraan para magka-isa ang bawat mga istudyante sa University.”
These were the words of Dr. Henry P. Aringa, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Overall Coordinator of the recently concluded Musical Extravaganza 2025, held at the Dimaporo Gymnasium on Thursday, October 16, 2025, as part of the 64th founding anniversary celebration of Mindanao State University – Main Campus (MSU-Main).
“Part na ng celebration ang Musical Extravaganza, pero may significance ito especially if you focus on the theme, “Inklusibong Pamantasan,” dito makikita ng mga istudyante na yung mga talent (nila), ano man ang kanilang ethnicity at paniniwala sa buhay, ay iisa parin ang goal at yon ang mag participate at maki-isa sa activity na ito,” Dr. Aringa added, highlighting the relevance of this year’s Musical Extravaganza to the University’s founding anniversary theme, “Inklusibong Pamantasan.”
The event gathered students, faculty, and participants from various colleges who came to support their respective college representatives. Loud cheers and applause coming from the audience kept the venue alive throughout the day. The event was also graced by MSU System President, Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, who was present during the morning’s activities.
Radz Karl L. Daruca, an 18-year-old Chemical Engineering Student, shared his first-ever experience watching the Musical Extravaganza.
“I was hesitant to enter the venue for the Musical kay taas kaayo ang line tapos init, pero it was all worth it because the performers delivered beautiful performances. It was fun, especially the Acapella Segment. Grabe ka hawod jud sa performances,” said Radz. (I was hesitant to enter the venue for the Musical because the line was too long and it’s hot, but it was all worth it because the performers delivered beautiful performances. It was fun, especially the Acapella Segment. All of their performances were great).
He also stated that he only came to support his college but ended up supporting other colleges as well.
“I entered with a mindset na mag-support lang sa college namo pero tungod sa nindot na performances sa ubang colleges, maka-support sab ka sa ilaha,” he added. (I entered with a mindset to only support my college, but because of the beautiful performances of the other colleges, I can’t help not to support them as well).
The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) emerged as the Overall Champion, winning in Group Impersonation and in Vocal Duet (English Category), and placed as runners-up in Original Composition. It was followed by the College of Engineering (COE), hailed as Overall 1st Runner-up, bagging the runners-up spots in Vocal Duet in both English and Filipino Categories, and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) as Overall 2nd Runner-up, bringing home the Champion award in Acapella, and as runners-up in Vocal Duet (English Category).
With the event wrapped, attendees remained, sharing photographs while holding their trophies and certificates. Stories were shared, honoring and celebrating the university’s dedication to artistic and cultural expressions that became a testament to MSU’s legacy and enduring spirit.
