MSU Main Campus - Marawi City > 10-Reduced Inequalities (SDG Goals) > MSU Ignites 2025 Intramurals with Spirit of Unity

“It is celebrating not just victory, but celebrating camaraderie,” said Hon. John Patrick C. Gregorio, Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission, during the Opening Ceremony of this year’s University Intramural Games (UIG) on Friday, November 7, at the University Grandstand.

The event began with a parade featuring university officials, spirited athletes from various colleges, faculty members, and student coordinators, accompanied by loud cheers, chants, and drum beats.

Mindanao State University System President, Atty. Paisalin B. Tago, CPA, graced the event and highlighted the importance of this year’s UIG.

“The games we open today are more than just competitions,” Tago said. “They are a testament to our continuing commitment to build an Inklusibong Pamantasan. These games remind us that inclusion and unity are not just ideals, but living traditions we practice everyday at Mindanao State University.”

Guest speaker Hon. John Patrick C. Gregorio also delivered an inspirational message to the competing athletes, stating, “This Intramurals is not just a competition. It is celebrating life. It is celebrating happy moments.”

Highlights included the ceremonial lighting of the urn and the launch of the official UIG theme song, “One MSU, One Spirit.” The performance was led by the College of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (CSPEAR) Bangkao Creatives, alongside the MSU-Dakila Streetdance Club, MSU-Darangan Cultural Troupe, PPE 102 students, MSU varsity athletes and coaches, and CSPEAR singers.

Immediately following the program, athletes competed in various sports across the campus, and bench cheering competitions were held at CSPEAR’s bleachers.

The UIG continues today, November 10. The awarding ceremony, where the Overall Champions per sport will be announced, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 11.
