September 8, 2025 – The Mindanao State University – Integrated Laboratory School (MSU-ILS) proudly marked its 61st Founding Anniversary with a grand celebration that showcased the school’s vibrant spirit, resilience, and commitment to inclusive education.
Carrying the theme, “MSU-ILS: 61 Years of Building Foundations for an Inclusive Education,” the event opened with a heartfelt welcome remarks from Assistant Dean Intesar T. Aba-Conding, MSc, who emphasized the significance of honoring the school’s six-decade legacy while looking forward to a future of continued excellence and inclusivity.
The celebration was graced by distinguished guests led by Mayor Sittie Aisah Nancy Tomawis Adiong, who served as Guest of Honor, together with Governor Dr. Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong Jr., MSU-ILS Alumni Association President Rdo Atty. Malik Umpar, Dr. Monaimah Manabilang, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and College of Education Dean Dr. Rohanifah Mama-Marohombsar, Alumni from various batches also joined the event, along with MSU directors, faculty and staff, parents, and students.
A moving tribute was offered to the late Atty. Basari Mapupuno, former University President and a proud member of the pioneer batch of MSU-ILS, whose dedication and vision continue to inspire generations of ILS graduates.
The opening salvo set the tone for the festivities, beginning with a precision performance from the MSU-ILS Silent Drillers and a cultural showcase by the Rinayong Cultural Troupe. This was followed by the performance of faculty and staff, with the special participation of Governor Adiong and Alumni President Atty. Malik Umpar, symbolizing the strong partnership between government leaders, alumni, and the ILS community.
The day’s celebration continued with a vibrant parade of all grade levels, where students proudly carried their banners and cheered with pride. This was followed by the yell presentations, echoing the enthusiasm and unity of learners across all levels. Despite unpredictable weather, the program went on rain or shine, proving the resilience of the ILS family. Students further showcased their talents and teamwork through lively field demonstrations and line dances, filling the grounds with music, rhythm, and joy.
The opening program beautifully blended solemn remembrance with festive celebration, reaffirming the unity and enduring spirit of the ILS community. With over six decades of nurturing generations of learners, MSU-ILS stands tall as a beacon of inclusive and transformative education in Mindanao.
