Jhumar Olape Jamis is an Assistant Professor at the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) of Mindanao State University (MSU) – Main Campus. He is currently serving as the Quality Assurance Coordinator and Research Coordinator at the same time in the same college.
Last 2018, he obtained his Master of Science in Fisheries major in Aquaculture at the University of the Philippines Visayas – Miagao Campus. Before joining MSU-Main Campus, Mr. Jamis was employed as Instructor 1 in Surigao State College of Technology – Del Carmen Campus, now Surigao del Norte State University – Del Carmen, where he was designated as the chairman of the BS Fisheries program and the campus Human Resource officer in the said campus.
During his employment in SNSU, he also served as the Chairman for Biodiversity, Assessment, Monitoring and Management and Conservation Committee of the Protected Area Management Board of SIPLAS (Siargao Protected Landscapes and Seascapes). His scholarly works include his first authorship paper published in Scopus-Indexed journal entitled “Effects of Vinegar and Sodium Acetate on the Growth Performance of Pacific White Shrimp, Penaeus vannamei”. He also presented his scholarly works in various local, and international research fora/symposia where he garnered several distinctions, such as: Best Paper Award, Best Virtual Presenter Award, and 2nd Best Abstract Award during the 2020 Multidiciplinary Regional Research Conference held in Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology, Agusan del Sur; 2nd Best Paper award and 2nd Best Presenter Award during the 4th Regional Research Conference & 10th In-House Review 2020 held in Surigao State College of technology, Surigao del Norte; Best Paper Award and Best Paper Presenter Award during the 3rd Regional Research Conference and 9th In-house Review 2019 at RDEX Center, km 9, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
Moreover, Mr. Jamis is an active member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) and a regular member of the APPP (Asosasyon ng mga Propesyonal sa Pangisdaan ng Pilipinas Inc.). Mr. Jamis is also engaged in the DOST-PCAARRD funded project (and MOST funded project as a project staff.
