Office Description

Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office (ETPO) is the flagship unit of the MSU Main Campus that promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in the academe and assists the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Lanao del Sur to spur economic growth and inclusive development. It is one of the sub-offices of the Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED).

Vision

The Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office aspires to be a world class entrepreneurship and innovation hub supporting the MSMEs of Lanao del Sur and assisting MSU Main Campus to be an entrepreneurial university.

Mission

The Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office aims to create an entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in MSU Main Campus and Lanao del Sur, thereby helping boost the economy of the province.

Goals and Objectives
  • To promote entrepreneurship and innovation in MSU Main Campus and Lanao del Sur.
  • To provide technical and business consultancy services to the MSMEs in Lanao del Sur.
  • To facilitate market linkages between the MSMEs, the industries and the consumers.
  • To conceptualize and establish viable entrepreneurial pursuits and lead in making MSU an entrepreneurial university.
  • To create an innovation convergence.
  • To build a pool of experts in various fields.
  • To acquire a state-of-the-art physical plant and install highly technological facilities.

MSU Marawi Shines at SUC Fair 2023

Mindanao State University (MSU), Marawi City showcased its outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment to innovation and cultural preservation at the recently concluded State Universities and Colleges (SUC) FAIR 2023. Held at SM, Iloilo City from July 10-14, 2023, the event provided a platform for higher education institutions to navigate the global landscape through innovations, cultural and arts preservation, and higher quality education.
 
Representing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), MSU-Marawi emerged triumphant, as Abdul Careb
 Abedin III from MSU-Marawi claimed the coveted title of Mr. SUC Fair 2023. His remarkable performance captivated the audience, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and talent. The victory not only brought honor to MSU-Marawi but also highlighted the exceptional talents nurtured within the institution.
 
In addition to the prestigious Mr. SUC Fair 2023 title, MSU-Marawi got the second place in the Entrep-Pinoy (Business Pitching Competition) category. The university showcased its innovative halal products called Sakurab Blend Products, featuring powdered Palapa as exhibited by the researchers/inventors, Dr. Mobarak D. Hadji Amin (Dean), Dr. Rashdi M. Casim (Assistant Dean), and Dr. Adley L. Masnar (Chair, Plant Science Department) of the College of Agriculture. The unique blend garnered acclaim from both the judges and attendees, demonstrating the university’s dedication to research and development. The success of the Halal Sakurab Blend products was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) – BARMM, which funded the research and development initiatives.
The presence of distinguished guests further added significance to MSU-Marawi’s participation in the SUC FAIR 2023. First Lady Marcos, renowned for her advocacy in education and cultural preservation, along with Chairman Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III, DPA of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), visited the MSU System Booth. Both guests expressed their admiration for the Halal Sakurab Blend products and commended MSU-Marawi’s commitment to innovation and cultural preservation.
 
The success of MSU Marawi at the SUC Fair 2023 would not have been made possible without the unwavering support and guidance of its key officials. MSU System President, Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, provided his full support, emphasizing the university’s commitment to excellence. The presence and guidance of Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Director Atty. Rashid V. Pandi, Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) Director Sarifa-Sofia Macarambon-Ali, Manila Information Office (MIO) Director Hannah G. Marquez, the Director of the, University Business Center (UBO) Director Muhammad Zuhair L. Gani, and Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office (ETPO) chief Dr. Maria Stella G. Codas, who led the MSU delegation, were instrumental in the team’s achievements.
 
Dr. Codas expressed her gratitude to the entire MSU Marawi community for their hard work and dedication. She stated, “We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of our students and the recognition they have brought to MSU Marawi and the BARMM region”. The SUC Fair 2023 has allowed us to showcase our commitment to innovation, cultural preservation, and quality education. We extend our gratitude to all those who supported us throughout this journey.”
The MSU System Booth stood as a testament to the strength and unity within the MSU System, with MSU IIT, MSU Tawi-tawi and MSU Ceramics joining MSU-Marawi in showcasing their research and accomplishments. The collaboration between these different MSU campuses underscored the institution’s collective pursuit of excellence, research, and innovation.
 
MSU-Marawi’s exceptional achievements at the SUC FAIR 2023 serve as a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence and its significant role in the development of the region and the nation as a whole. As an inspiration to other higher education institutions, MSU-Marawi continues to pave the way for innovation, cultural preservation, and academic excellence. With its continued dedication to research and its pursuit of higher quality, MSU-Marawi is poised to make even greater contributions to the advancement of the Bangsamoro region and the entire nation in the future.

MSU Entrepreneurship Development Team

MSU Entrepreneurship Development Team (MEDT) is a constituted committee comprising of MSU faculty and staff who will assist the Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office in establishing college-based enterprises, provide technical support to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in MSU and Lanao del Sur, and promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the university.
