Mindanao State University held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning to mark the official reopening of the Dimaporo Gymnasium. The rehabilitation project, which began in April 2025 under the administration of the late President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, was formally turned over by Engr. Salic Mangotara of DCM Construction. The turnover followed a thorough review process to ensure the gymnasium met high-quality standards.

Comprehensive upgrades include the repair of the leaking roofing system, interior and exterior repainting, and the modernization of the holding area, audio-visual center, and athletic sections. The project also included the refurbishment of all restrooms, the installation of two water tanks, new windows and grills, a replacement main entrance gate and repair of some side gates, and the addition of two hostels situated below the stage.
In his message, MSU System President Atty. Paisalin P. Tago, CPA announced that additional improvements are planned, including the installation of electric fans for better ventilation, upgraded lighting, and a modern sound system. He emphasized that the gymnasium is a vital asset designed to benefit the public, particularly the faculty and students.
CSPEAR Dean Prof. Miriam Aman accepted the facility on behalf of the college, expressing her gratitude to the President and the administration.
“As the primary end users of the facility, we will be taking care of this facility to the best purpose of its potential. The gymnasium will serve its purpose in all physical activities and sporting endeavors,” Dean Aman stated.
The event marks a significant step in the university’s commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure. The administration confirmed that the facility is now open for use, subject to established university guidelines. This renovation reflects the university’s efforts to support the academic, physical, and wellness needs of its constituents through improved campus facilities.
