The History Department of the Mindanao State University (Marawi) gladly invites you to the Morning Session of its “7th Webinar sa Kasaysayan” on 11 March 2023. The theme is “Owning Mindanao History: Our Identity”.

Our speakers are both advocates of Mindanao Histories and Studies (MHS).

*Prof. Faina Abaya-Ulindang is the author of Resettling the Huks in the Land of Promise: The Story of EDCOR Mindanao (2017). Her works on social history of Mindanao appeared on Philippine scholarly journals and was involved in drafting the “Marginalization through land dispossession” of the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission Report (TJRC).

*Prof. Norma Mapansa Gonos is a full-blooded Mandaya from Caraga. She believes that education is a tool by which indigenous communities assert recognition of the right to self-determination. She was involved in peace initiatives and was invited by the then OPAPP secretary as part of the TWG of IP Peace panel.
