The MSU-Main Campus Sindangan Extension celebrated its academic achievers today, May 14, 2026, during the “Creme de la Creme” recognition ceremony at the Sindangan Cultural and Sports Complex in Zamboanga del Norte. The event honored the institution’s top-performing students, specifically those named to the President’s and Chancellor’s Lists, alongside successful board exam passers. The gathering was witnessed by a delegation of MSU officials and representatives from Sindangan Municipal Government, underscoring the collaborative effort between the university and the municipality in fostering academic excellence.

The program opened with remarks from Campus Director Florencio D. Recoleto Jr., PhD, followed by an address from MSU System President Atty. Paisalin P. D. Tago, CPA. In his message, President Tago emphasized that academic honors represent the discipline to persevere through pressure and fatigue. He reminded the awardees that true excellence is measured not just by grades, but by a graduate’s commitment to principled service and contribution to nation-building. The presence of university and local leaders served to validate the students’ hard work and the institution’s role in regional development.

Hon. Glona G. Labadlabad, Mayor of Sindangan, highlighted the strategic importance of the campus extension in providing accessible quality education. She noted that bringing the university closer to the community has removed significant barriers for local families, allowing students to pursue their studies while remaining within their support systems.

Student representatives shared personal reflections on their academic journeys. Jan Mari Duhaylungsod, a Chancellor’s Lister and  3rd Year BS Mechanical Engineering student, spoke about overcoming the initial difficulties of complex subjects like calculus and physics. He stated that progress is the result of small, consistent steps rather than giant leaps. Danfe Lean Grace R. Elopre, a President’s Lister and 2nd year BS Psychology student, discussed the challenges of balancing studies with multiple side jobs. She emphasized that success is rarely achieved alone and credited a solid support system as the foundation of her achievements.

The ceremony also featured testimonies from graduate board passers, including Engr. Aaron A. Mateo, Engr. Joseph Tulabing, and Prof. Ronnie Bandivas Jr. The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Decee Montilla Jr., the Valedictorian of Batch Lawig 2025. who urged the awardees to carry the values of the university beyond the campus walls, reminding them that their achievements are not just personal victories but a call to lead and serve their communities. The recognition served as a formal acknowledgement of the academic standards maintained by the Sindangan Extension and the shared commitment of the university and the local government to the success of its students.
